  • Performance of XML file editors / viewers (4 posts)

    Hi folks.

I've been busy coding our systems so we can produce xml files.
I'm ok with small amounts of test data, but my latest full xml file export has over 10 million rows and my machine takes about 10 minutes to open the file in notepad ++ and then another 10 minutes to scroll. Basically impossible to do anything.
Notepad is very quick , but doesn't do xml format viewing. So its not ideal.

Was wondering if anyone has found a very efficient free file viewing tool which formats viewing and editing for xml files.

Try XML Copy Editor available from http://xml-copy-editor.sourceforge.net/ which is at least free.

10 million rows does sound like an awful lot of data! How many students does that equate to?

    Many thanks,
    Caspar

I have also used XML Copy Editor which is a fast, free, validating XML editor but I have not used it on files that large, but it may be worth a try.

I meant 10 million length (not rows).

    This is alot quicker. Thanks.
