    Feconnecters

Please note the update below sent by The Data Service:

"Following user feedback on the 2011/12 LIS 19 beta, the Data Service will now issue a final beta for testing on 15 July to fully capture bugs/errors. This final beta is expected to contain conversion, amalgamation and some reports as well as the Funding Calculation modules.

A full LIS release for providers will be published at the end of July, which is expected to contain fixes for any Funding Calculations errors that were raised in the final beta testing. "

    Hi Selvy,

Some feedback from the dataservice on issues raised would be welcome or do we have to wait until the next release before we can proceed further.

    Regards

    Hi Selvey,

Many thanks for the update on the LIS.

    I agree with Martin's comments.

Also how many other releases of the LIS will there be between now and July 15th to overcome the issues already raised, please?

I think that a couple of issues I have experienced may have been because of erroneous data in the LARA (unless the warnings were due to LIS problems – I have already asked the Data Service either way and am awaiting feedback) – will there be an improved LARA to accompany each improved LIS?

    Many thanks,
    Caspar

    Hi both

I have referred your comments to the Data Service and will post updates when they respond.

I understand that your comments directly to the Data Service Servicedesk are regularly fed back to the LIS team and addressed.

    Hi Selvy,
I have already posted issues back to the servicedesk who I hope have passed them on to the Data Service Team. I would not expect the servicedesk to provide an answer to the queries due to the technical nature of the issues but have expected that some feedback from the Data Service Team would have been forthcoming before now.
Many of us in the software writers group have a staffing level of ‘one’ and to expect us to provide tested software, migrate and update data for the R01 return in the short timescale remaining is becoming more unreasonable every day.
    One very frustrated programmer
    Regards
    Martin

    Hi Martin

The Data Service is currently evaluating queries raised by this thread reported to the Servicedesk. They indicate that they should be resolved by the specification and guidance released with the Beta version of LIS on 15 July. If there are any outstanding queries after this information is published please get in contact again.

    Hi Selvy,

Does your last post mean that there will be no further LIS releases before 15th July? I am extremely concerned that this will mean zero opportunities for testing before the new students start back in August since that period (between the last students leaving on July 15th and the next new batch starting in mid-August) is the busiest of all at the college. Please, please, please can an interim improved LIS be released before 15th July for testing?

Also will there be an improved LARA to accompany each improved LIS?

I note from the latest Data Service announcements that the Employer Responsive Apprenticeship will not be available until July sometime and this again restricts any testing opportunities.

I am happy to work extremely hard on this project, but remain very concerned that if any issues emerge in the full testing after the OLDC goes live then that leaves so little time to resolve them. I am entirely in your hands over this and sincerely hope that my concerns will come to nought, but I must make you aware of them.

    Many thanks,
    Caspar

    Hi Caspar

LIS 1.03 will be available around 1 July. You will receive an update to tell you when it is ready.

LARA will be available on 15 July.

    Hi Selvy

I know we were shown a 'known issues' link yesterday at the meeting but I can only find an 'ILR documentation' known issues; is there a LIS one around, and can you share the link please?

    Thanks

    Sean

    Hi Sean

The LIS one has not been published yet. I understand they are currently working on it. It will be on the Data Service website when it is and we will make sure you are informed when it is up there.

When this list is available I have been asked to make sure that all users check that the issues that they are aware of are on the list, if they are not on the list then they must be logged via the service desk so that the LIS development team can be informed.

Does anyone know when the issues list for LIS will be available, please? The lack of feedback is increasingly frustrating.

    Many thanks,
    Caspar

    Hi Capser

The Data Service will be publishing the 'reported issues' log later today. I will post a release note later today when this has been published.
