Please can someone clarify as the brain has gone blank – If we have a learner who should have been withdrawn last year before the hard close, if we put her end date as July will the PFR recognise that she has gone or is it only looking for events from 01/08/2011?

I believe it should reconcile on the PFR fine. The only time that I think this will cause a issue is when you have audit. They may say this is a risk, however if you have your processes ready which show how you prevent this from happening it is not to bad.

We have not had this happen but from what I have read and speaking to my colleagues this is the best advise we can give you. I hope this helps.

Personally I think that you should be fine to do this and it will result in zero funding for the current academic year.

However if their end date is before 31/7/11 then arguably you may have been overpaid for last year and I don't think the systems are clever enough to work out the correct amounts for the reclaim.

At the end of the day you will have been as fully honest as you can be and I agree with what Chris has said above.

The other things is to try it and see what the LIS makes of it without making any return. The LIS might complain that this learner does not belong in the current academic year and refuse to accept that data, in which case there is your answer!

    Hope this help,
    Caspar
