Hello feconnect users

We received 18 responses to this consultation (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/201112-change-request-35). All but one respondent supports rationalising the employment status fields as described. However the rest of the responses are not all as clear cut.

Only 71 per cent of respondents thought that collecting employment status at enrolment sufficient. Among the dissenters, some of the reasons include:

• ‘Job outcomes! And if their circumstances change, they may to have change from attending full-time to part-time or vice versa’
• ‘Status can change when learner progresses to another programme’
• ‘It is important that providers monitor and report the continued employment status for ER provision’.

Interestingly, it is broadly a 50:50 split on learners’ ability to categorise themselves, with most concern being around interpretation and ‘enrolment form fatigue’.

Also, comments received on this consultation are varied with one respondent asking why this change is being made and how it improves quality of learning.

Please let us know your views! You can tell us via survey monkey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/201112-change-request-35), this forum or cst@theia.org.uk. The deadline for the 2011/12 ILR changes consultation is 3 September – so make your views count!

I hope you enjoy the bank holiday weekend before the chaos of enrolment.
