Last of the summer activities…

Good afternoon colleagues

As autumn is on the horizon, I am pleased to report that we received 543 responses to the 14 Survey Monkey consultations on 2011/12 ILR changes.  This is our best response rate yet so thank you to those of you who contributed.  A few of you also responded on the feconnect posts on the 2011/12 changes and we will consider those comments together with the consultation responses.  We will keep you informed of future developments once we have presented the paper to board on 29 September.  In case you are curious, the most responses received was on change request 5 on National Insurance number collection – 121 in total!  

The ULN field became mandatory on the ILR from August 2010 and so the information authority, the Learning Records Service and the Data Service have jointly published a ULN top tips guide designed to support providers in the application of the Unique Learner Number (ULN). The guide includes tips on the best time to generate ULNs and ULN requirements in the 2010/11 ILR specification and showcases the good practice Lewisham College has put in place. You can find the guide on  the Learning Records Service, the information authority and the Data Service websites. I hope you find this useful. 

We have also closed the consultation on the FE Data Management Group’s six data management principles and published the outcomes.
