Consultation on corrections to field H18

November 2, 2010 in The information authority Blog by Anna

The information authority would like to make corrections to the ‘Year of student on this instance’ field (field H18), to align it with the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) Specification. The changes to the field that we are proposing are as follows:

  • Removal of code 00, ‘Foundation year’
  • Removal of code 99, ‘Programme structure does not allow year to be derived’.

Any higher education (HE) learning aims starting in 2010/11 using these codes would need to be recorded to the correct year of student instance. Providers would not be expected to re-code learning aims from 2009/10.

We would welcome feedback from those providers delivering HE provision to establish:

  • if provider MI systems would enable these corrections to be made given that we are already in the 2010/11 teaching year; and
  • if providers are willing to make the corrections by the LR04 return due in September 2011.

Please respond below with your feedback by Tuesday 09 November.

We use neither of these values in any case. So no problem for us.
