Long time, no speak…

Hi all

It’s been a while since you’ve had an update from the information authority towers – there has been so much going on with publishing the new specification for the single ILR and all the supporting documents to go with it that we haven’t had a chance to tell you about it except for via our website.

As many of you will know, we published version 1 of the 2011/12 single ILR specification at the end of February. Version 2 of the document will be published today, as well as Version 3 of the flat file specification (old format).

To support Own Software Writers with the changes brought about by the move to a single ILR in XML format, we have set up an Own Software Writers’ Change Management Group. This group is there to provide advice and guidance to help software writers within FE and training providers deliver the changes in time for the 2011/12 academic year. A forum has also been set up here on feconnect for the group to share good practice and carry on discussions in between meetings. The second meeting of the Own Software Writers’ Change Management Group takes place in Coventry tomorrow. Outputs from each meeting can be found on the group’s page on our main website.

We have also made some changes to our website to make sure that all of the information about the single ILR is available conveniently in one place. Visit http://www.theia.org.uk/ilr/singleilr/ for signposts to the 2011/12 single ILR specification, single ILR FAQs (new FAQs went up this week if you missed them!) and also to be directed to the information on the Data Service’s website about the changes to the data collection systems.

With all the changes going on around the 2011/12 ILR, don’t forget that the time has come around to submit requests to change the 2012/13 ILR. The deadline for requests is Friday 24 June, after which we will commence our usual consultation with the sector before the final changes are approved by the information authority board in September.

Finally, we are carrying out a user survey to gain feedback about our website. Please a few minutes to complete our web satisfaction survey, to help us understand if the site meets your needs and expectations, and how it can be improved.
